As with 2017, the sky decided to rain on the town's annual Christmas Day parade of hardy souls, but that didn't stop a gansey load of Greystonians braving the elements for a short, sharp hop into the sea this afternoon. This festive tradition has been making wet fools of us all since the 1970s - we think. Finding the true origins of Greystones' Christmas Day Swim is pretty darn difficult, given that most people view it as just a wonderfully silly thing to do before sitting down to a six-hour dinner. So, if anyone out there does know the true history, do let us know, on
[email protected]. In the meantime, fair fecks to John McGowan for once again facing down the elements to deliver our latest round-up of the town's braver and slightly-more-bonkers-than-normal residents. Triple hot whiskeys all round!
